Biography

Sarah E. Silverman, PhD is an independent faculty developer and instructor of disability studies. Her interests include universal design for learning, accessibility, and neurodiversity in higher education. As an autistic educator, she has a personal stake in neurodiversity as well as extensive college teaching and faculty development experience.

She teaches Disability Studies at Goodwin University and has previously taught at University of Michigan Dearborn, UW Madison, and UC Davis. She holds a PhD in Entomology from UC Davis and an Advanced Certificate in Disability Studies from CUNY School of Professional Studies.

She has presented at or consulted with Barnard College, Swarthmore College, University of Pennsylvania, University of Vermont, UC Davis, Colleges of the Fenway, University of Iowa, and University of Notre Dame.

Her book, Classroom Mindscapes: An Introduction to Neurodiversity for Educators, is published by University of Oklahoma Press in the series Teaching, Engaging, and Thriving in Higher Ed.
